joins with Lake Michigan.
Continuing further left is the 110-floor Sears Tower, with its twin
antennas, and Grant Park, with the Buckingham Fountain in the park’s
center.
To the right is the John Hancock building, with its red and white
antennas.
At the far right is the area of Chicago known as the Gold Coast.
Chicago has the world’s largest inland port and the largest
concentration of rail, truck, and air transportation.

It features a twilight view of downtown Chicago as seen from Lake
Michigan, the third largest of the Great Lakes and the only Great Lake
entirely in the United States. The
tallest building on the left is the 1454-foot, 110-floor Sears Tower.
The tallest building on the right is the John Hancock building.
The Ferris wheel is located on the popular Navy Pier.
Chicago was incorporated in 1837 and quickly became a major grain
exporter. Industries followed
and the railroads fanned out from the city to deliver Chicago’s goods
throughout the nation.
